What is a Pythagorean sigil?
A sigil is a symbol that holds a wish. The Pythagorean method builds it from numerology: every letter of your statement becomes a number from 1 to 9, using the Pythagorean table below. Those numbers sit on a grid, and the line that joins them in order is your sigil.
How the line is drawn
Start at the first number and draw a line to the next, then the next, until the end. A small circle marks where you began and a short bar marks where you finished. Neighbouring identical numbers are joined into one point. Some practitioners remove vowels and repeated letters first, as in Austin Osman Spare’s method, which is why those are options.
Which grid should I use?
The keypad grid lays 1 to 9 out like a phone. The Lo Shu square is the magic square of Saturn, where every row, column and diagonal adds up to 15. The Pythagorean rows grid runs the numbers down in columns. They give three different shapes for the same words, so choose the one that feels right.
Charging your sigil
Many practitioners draw the sigil by hand, focus on the intent until it feels charged, then release it by burning it, hiding it or simply looking away and forgetting it. There is no single right way.
Sigil magic is a personal practice offered for reflection and creativity. Everything runs in your browser and your will is never sent anywhere.
