About this tool
Solar arc directions move every point in your birth chart forward by the same amount: the distance the progressed Sun has travelled since birth, roughly one degree for each year of life. The result is a directed chart that shows when directed planets and angles hit natal planets, with exact dates, sign changes and plain-language explanations. Choose the true solar arc or the mean (Naibod) rate. Everything is calculated in your browser and your birth data is not stored.
Frequently asked questions
What is a solar arc direction?
It is a timing technique where the whole birth chart is advanced by the solar arc, the distance the progressed Sun has moved from its natal position, about one degree per year. The directed points then form aspects to the natal chart.
How is it different from secondary progressions?
Progressions move each planet at its own speed, while solar arcs move every planet and angle by the same arc. Solar arcs are simpler, and the angles are especially significant.
What is the difference between true and Naibod arc?
True solar arc uses the actual progressed Sun, so the rate varies between about 0.95 and 1.02 degrees a year. Naibod uses a steady 0.9856 degrees a year. The dates usually differ by a few months.
How accurate does the birth time need to be?
Directed planets need only the date, but the directed Ascendant and Midheaven shift with birth time, so the more accurate your time, the better.
