Annual Profections

Which part of life your year is about, and who is steering it

✦How it works

Profections are one of the oldest timing tools in astrology. Starting at birth, each year of life moves you one house forward, beginning with the first house. Age 0 is the 1st house, age 1 the 2nd, and so on; at 12 you come back to the 1st. The sign on that house is your profected sign, and the planet that rules it is your Lord of the Year. Its condition and what it does by transit are said to colour the year, from one birthday to the next. Each year is split into twelve months, moving one sign per month.

Houses are counted the whole-sign way, from the sign of your rising sign. A birth time is needed. Traditional rulers are used (Mars for Scorpio, Saturn for Aquarius, Jupiter for Pisces).

☼Your birth details

The rising sign decides everything here, so use the most exact birth time you have.

About this tool

Annual profections move your focus one house forward each birthday, starting with the 1st house at birth. The planet that rules the profected sign is the Lord of the Year. Months advance one sign each, so you can see which theme is active now.
